Letters of Support and Affidavit Guide for Immigration
One of the most important aspects of almost any immigration application or court filing is the ability to show good moral character, so whether it is USCIS letters of support, or letters of support for immigration court, we hope this letters of support guide can help.
Letters of support and affidavits written by people who know an applicant or a respondent are given a lot of evidentiary weight in the pursuit of immigration benefits or removal relief.
But in my experience, friends and family find the very concept of a letter of support or an affidavit intimidating. So I’ve put together a set of guides in English and Spanish for both the letter of support and the affidavit. Those can be downloaded here:
- Sample Letter of Support (English)
- Sample Letter of Support (SPANISH)
- Sample Affidavit (English)
- Sample Affidavit (SPANISH)
You can use these sample letters of support and affidavits to follow along with the video from Youtube above.
The key to any letters of support is to include details about a person that paint a picture of whom they are. So generic phrases aren’t really helpful. USCIS adjudicators and Immigration Judges read these letters to try and fill in the gaps about a person who is before them, whether applying for USCIS benefits or relief from immigration removal.
There are some technical aspects of letters of support that are important, like properly identifying oneself as a letter writer, and these are pointed out in the letter of support samples above.

Hello Damjan,
My wife and stepson came to the US as K1/K2 (follow to join). This is a long story so I will be brief.
During the period of my wife’s conditional PR I took a temporary (2-4 year) overseas assignment and her conditional PR expired last April. Now it looks like I have opportunities to relocate back to the US.
Would we start again with the I-130 process?
